CRaviNg FaLL

So, the leaves are starting to change....slooooowly.....but they are changing and falling. Soon the woods here will be looking bright and bare at the same time...COULD YOU IMAGINE IF ALL THE LEAVES STAYED ON THE TREES HOW PRETTY THEY WOULD BE???
Im thimking festivals this time of year. We have an apple festival  here, its either blazing hot and humid or misty and cool. Hoping to take our little bee (our daughter 9 mon. old) to her first one if weather holds out. Then we have a farm festival that I havent been to in years, but wouldl like to....anything to get out in the cool, crisp air! Weve been going out for "strolls" in the mornings just when we can see the sun rise.... its quiet and peaceful!
I would love to master an APPLE PIE RECIPE, from scratch....if anyone has a simple, delicous one....Ill take it!
I love cinamon spice tea when the weather starts changing to cooler weather, YUM!
And I love this cute Cath Kidston mug, my tea would taste even better in it
!
This is a random pic of an amish farmhouse. Besides the new baby...our house has also been taking up any of our free time. We are remodeling our 100 plus year old farmhouse and amish farmhouses happen to be the inspiration.....love the simplicity and beauty of them. Can you imagine a white farmhouse....wrap around porch....mums and pumpkins all around. It will probably be another few years till we get to that phase, but Im dreaming NOW!
As of now, Ill be dreaming of my next blog, I have a few ideas running through my head. Its so nice to be back and thinking of my favorite time of year....FALL....WHICH LEADS to Halloween (I like the cutsey stuff...not scarey), Thanksgiving.....then CHRISTMAS! It gets darker sooner, which means more time inside with family and friends and books, oh how I love my AMISH fiction! Ok, guess I better close some  FALL like weather outside wating for me! Oh, one more thing....when its comes to decorating (seasonaly or yearly) whats your fave? Primitive, Farmhouse, Cabin, Country Cottage or modern? What are some of your fave fall things?

Fall Recipe Swap Party

Its official, Ive set a date.....well, dates. September 22-24th I will be hosting a Fall Recipe Swap Party here on my blog. I made it for a few days so everyone will have time to get their recipes posted. Its simple, post a favorite Fall time recipe or one that you plan on trying and link up with me (more details later on that coming later....thank you Amy, for your help!I hope I get it right!) Hopefully you will have a pic to go with your recipe, but if not thats totally fine, the whole point is to find new recipes for the new fall season and maybe meet up with a few new blogger friends along the way. Also, in October I will be having a Halloween Cookie Swap Party, it will be the same thing, except it will be cookies or maybe baked goods in general. So, in the meantime, get those recipes ready and be sure to scroll down and read my latest blog and see if there are any that you have missed. I hope you will join me!

pUMpkIN SpiCE lATTe

Can you smell it???~~~~~~~ Its the smell of Starbucks at FALL time~~~~~~~~It smells like PUMPKIN, CINNAMON, CLOVES, NUTMEG, VANILLA and a touch of SWEETNESS. Well, I got a chance to get another blog in, all month long Ive been thinking of Starbucks, so I figured I would blog about it. Last year I had my one and only PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE from Starbucks. Its a good thing I dont have a Starbucks nearby.....I would be one of those people visiting everyday. The closest one to me is about 45 min. away and I really need a reason to drive that far besides getting a 3.00 coffee........so........this year, Ill make excuses:) Last fall me and mom went to Ashland , Ky......for a reason I can not remember, but I noticed a Starbucks and had her drop me off while she ran an errand, that being said, her or my dh are not fans of SB's....its just me. The day was cool and rainy, perfect for FALL. I remember it so well, it was one of those days you want to run home and put a roast in the oven. We stopped at a home based craft/primitive store, but they were closed:( Have you been living under a rock like me and havent had a PSL from SB's? Heres the link to a blog about it coming back. Below are a few poems/quotes about AUTUMN. Hope you enjoy!

"For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad."
- Edwin Way Teale

"I love the fall. I love it because of the smells that you speak of; and also because things are dying,
things that you don't have to take care of anymore, and the grass stops growing."
- Mark Van Doren

"A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air."
- Eric Sloane

"I love fall! Fall is exciting.
It's apples and cider.
It's an airborne spider.
It's pumpkins in bins.
It's burrs on dog's chins.
It's wind blowing leaves.
It's chilly red knees.
It's nuts on the ground.
It's a crisp dry sound.
It's green leaves turning
And the smell of them burning.
It's clouds in the sky.
It's fall. That's why...
I love fall."

Wreath Party and Things

Ok, things have been busy around here, for various reasons......point is, I havent had time to blog much and dont see that I will be for a few weeks, but wanted to check in now (while I can) and let you in on a few things. First things = FIRST.....
My very talented blogger friend Amy at Keep'n The Sunny Side will be having a FALL WREATH PARTY Sept . 1st. I wont be participating, but wanted to pass the word along so you could join in and link up to a great blog. She is always posting great craft tutorials and recipes.....theres always something fun on her blog. You can find the details of the FALL WREATH PARTY HERE .
The next thing is that dh starts his 2 week vaca tomorrow, so Ill more than likely be away from the computer most of the time. Im sure he will have plenty for us to do. Though Ill be checking in from time to time, I may get one blog posted if Im lucky. So dont think Ive abandoned my blog, Ill be be around.
The 3rd thing is that Ive been thinking of doing a FALL RECIPE SWAP, similar to Amys party (she inspired me). Ill be thinking on this and let you know the details in a few weeks!
Ive been browsing for a new background and hoping to do a little re-vamping on my blog. Ive fallen in LOVE with a few HALLOWEEN backgrounds, but I feel its a little early, even for me, lol! So, the next time you visit, I may have a new look here.
Well, thats enough serious chatter for now, Im gonna post a few FALL time pics that Ive found. The weather here is FALL like this week, with temps in the low 80s and hi 70s. The clouds are looming and there is breeze. The leaves are starting to fall and change colors. I hope this is the start to a beautiful FALL. ENJOY!!!

SCEnTS sIghTS ANd SOUnDS OF FALL

OH MY........I went to BATH AND BODY WORKS yesterday and they have their fall home scents out now, not in full force, but they are out! I picked up this room spray, AUTUMN APPLE, and I have to say if there was ever a company to pin point the true scent of apple, SLATKIN & CO. has done it. Its perfect for transitioning into fall while its still HOT outside. Its the most crisp, cool, delicious scent. A couple of sprays lasts for hours. They also have it in the candle as well. You can find it here .
I also picked up this candle. Its CREAMY PUMPKIN and it smells soooooo good. Thinking of lighting it up tonight. Right now these 4 oz. candles (FALL) are on sale for 4.00, quite the deal considering they are usually 9.50. You can purchase them here .
Now, on to the sights and sounds part of the post. I dug out my old fountain. You can barely make it out in the oic above, but there is water coming out of the spicket. This was not the ideal background I had in mind, being in front of the window, but it was the only option, as it was the only place for the eletrical outlet. Theres nothing better when you want a nice relaxing day to read, to listen to the water pouring into that metal bucket....its so relaxing!!!
You can see it a little better here, the water anyway. Generally the bucket has ivy vined around it, but I took that out and replaced it with AUTUMNAL items.
Nothing beat battery operated candles, of course bright RED, ORANGE, AND YELLOW colors are hard to beat too!
This old OIL LAMP was here when we moved in, I love it. I have little white pumpkins and gourds outside right now, cant wait to bring them in and litter them all over the living room.

I got this one last year from my SUGAR FARMHOUSE SECRET SISTER, she was the best!
I originally wanted the fountain to be on this stand, but that didnt work out. We picked up this wreath at a yard sale for 3.00. The Halloween urn came from a yard sale a few years back, not sure how much it was, but it was cheap. I leave it out all year long, I just turn it around.
My favorite BASKET!
My favorite COLORS....
Even though Im a primitive gal, I still love all things that GLITTER AND GLOW...
A friend made this a few years ago, I have another picture thats not out yet......and its my fave!
Hope youve enjoyed my FALL PREVIEW, I do have a few more things to put out.....time will tell if that happens or not!
This is my favroite time of year, Do you realize FALL officially starts September 23rd??? WOO HOO!

I had planned on blogging a bit more today, but looks like a storm is rolling in so I better get off of here and keep our fingers crossed we get it because its a scorcher here today, feeling like 105 degrees.....not very fall like , huh?

So, have you started your fall decor yet?

Autumn Inventory

So just a few minutes ago I wrangled my way into the spare room, where things that dont have a home end up. I was taking fall decor inventory....I found 1/10 of it, ugh. There are a few things that I absolutely wanted that I havent found yet, but have one more place to look. Some stuff was never unpacked from years ago, see, we moved from a huge farm house to a tiny one and when there is no place to put things, they dont get unpacked or just get shuffled around in the mess of things. Its un organized to say the least.
Im ready to WELCOME AUTUMN at any point and time that she decides to visit. I nearly brought the box of stuff I found out.......but refrained....maybe by the end of the week Ill do it. Im hopefully going to a PRIMITIVE tent sale this weekend and am hoping for some fall items to purchase cheap
I did find a few crow pics to put on the wall and my orange pipberrys. Pipberrys are my MUST HAVE, CANT LIVE WITHOUT items in any season!
I have a wreath and a sign missing still yet, Im thinking they may be in the closet that I cant get into just yet because there is a matress in the way at the present time.

So....I still need to get....
~clear lights
~more leaves
~tarts and maybe a candle
~material to make some fall pillows

I was reading through old blogs this morning and read one from Thanksgiving last year. You may like to read it, although if your a SPFH SISTER already...youve read it, Im sure. There is also a recipe there I want to make soon...I think its Pumpkin Crunch, maybe. HERES the link!

Well, Im off to clean the kitchen and get dinner started for hubby when he gets home, then maybe take a dip in the pool.....the only thing getting me through the summer right now! Im so over the heat!

SEAsoNAL eye CANdy

Not a lot to say in this blog, its just been REALLy busy and HOT, HOT, HOT here the last week or so and its hard to get motivated for anything except fall. Ive nearly got our living room ready for fall decor and in a week or two Ill start on it....cant wait. I love the first pic, the colors are so rich and the leaves on the floor.....I can smell them and hear them being walked on already! NOTE TO SELF AND ANYONE ELSE READING.....NEVER light candles in a barn, especially next to the hay bales...PLEASE! Battery operated candals will safice!
Yes, I have an obsession with caramel apples, these are so cute!
I would love to belly up at this table!
So pretty, so fall, I love it! I just cant wait for cooler, crisp weather. Ive been thinking a lot about Halloween lately, not sure why, but I am!

Heres hoping fall comes sooner rather than later!!! And the first issue of A PRIMITIVE PLACE arrives soon!

A Few Fall Favorites

Com' on in....pour some hot apple cider or spiced tea (ok, make sure the air is cranked first, it is July after all....but lets pretend), get comfy and get ready for some fall time relaxation. Lets step ahead a few months when the nights and mornings are cool, refreshing and leave a thick coat of dew on everything. The leaves are floating in the air and are bright in color!
One of my favorite things to do "any" time of the year is decorate the house for the 4 seasons, fall being my favorite, but did I need to say that? I LOVE this wreath, I love hydrangeas, seems so southern and homey and it should be on my door! Cant wait to decorate our itty bitty living room for the fall season, Im starting in August!
I just finished reading the first book "A SISTERS SECRET" in this series of Sisters of Holmes County by Wanda E. Brunstetter . Im a huge fan of Amish Fiction and I love this series. My favorite time to read is in the fall, maybe sitting outside in the cool breeze or sitting by the window while the leaves and rain drops fall.

Cant wait to get to the candle outlet to get more Caramel Corn candles and spray. I actually used my spray a few days ago.....it smells sooooo good!Soon we will be dragging out the flannel sheets to snuggle down for long cool nights. I love these things, though white fresh linens are so refreshing in the spring, flannels and fall are for cuddling and I cant wait!

Im also eager to be able, well....tolerate, turning the oven on all day. Baking batches of cookies, cakes, pies, beans and cornbread, beef stew and homemade bread. Can you imagine having the oven on all day and enjoying it.....not dripping wet with sweat and heating the house up when its already 100 degrees out.....?.....I didnt think so. The oven will bring extra warmth on a cool fall day. Im really wanting a pumpkin pie now!

This slice looks soooooo GOOD!
Dont know about you, but I love me some seasonal beauty products now and then. That pumpkin spice looks so yummy!
CARAMEL APPLE.......need I say more??? Yum, think about it......a steaming HOT bath with caramel apple scented bubbles, soft music playing and a warm glow candle burning after a long day......aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!
Doesnt a camp fire out back sound nice with a pot of chili thats cooked over the fire all day sound great. Then top it off with some smores or apple slices with caramel sauce!
Autumn is perfect in every way...... What are you looking forward to?
